Customized Intern Orientation
Learning & Engagement Series
Specialty sessions designed to enhance organizational awareness and build business knowledge. Topics will vary from Culture of CARE to Resume Writing & Interview Skills, with other sessions focusing on building awareness on what specific departments within Corporate have to offer and how they operate.
Three specialty teambuilding activities will take place over the course of the program. The goal of each exercise is to hone in on the importance of teamwork, communication, planning, and provide all interns an opportunity to network with others in the program.
The Corporate Intern Capstone Project will address a specific opportunity in Corporate Shared Services. Interns will be placed into groups of 5 – 6 and will be required to meet regularly throughout the summer to complete the project. Capstone presentations will occur at the end of the program.

Do you have a passion for finance and accounting? As an intern in our Financial Planning department, you will assist in projects such as 2020 budget planning, preparing monthly account analysis, assisting with payroll tax activities, preparing monthly financial statement reviews and more.
We're seeking candidates who are enrolled a junior or senior in an undergraduate Accounting degree program.
Office of Legal Affairs
Interning in our Office of Legal Affairs will give you a hands-on learning experience to gain an understanding of Northwell as an organization and the role and functions of the Office of Legal Affairs with exposure to the healthcare, corporate, regulatory, labor and employment and real estate groups.
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on projects in multiple practice areas and gain exposure to a variety of assignments including reviewing, revising and drafting contracts, legal documents, policies, and procedures, performing legal research and analysis and more.
We're seeking candidates who are currently enrolled in an accredited law school, actively working toward a Juris Doctorate degree.
The Workforce Saftey team educates Northwell team members about proper safety protocols in the work environment.
As an intern, you will gain industry knowledge, generate reports and presentations, prepare data analysis, and participate in safe patient handling and EMS projects. We're seeking candidates pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, or related field. Undergraduate junior & senior level students preferred.
The Strategic Planning department is responsible for preparing strategic assessments and recommendations to position Northwell, hospitals and other business units to meet the needs of the community consistent with the identified mission and vision including conducting in-depth assessments of existing and new programs to determine the market potential and specifications to meet community needs.
As an intern, you will be participating in data analysis and research projects in support of planning and program development activities such as hospital utilization and demographic trends, assisting in the preparation of the certificate of need applications through analysis of system and healthcare market data to write program justifications and more!
We're seeking candidates with Strategic Management, Business, Finance majors, or related field. Undergraduate junior & senior level students preferred.

Center for Emergency Medicine (CEMS)
Our CEMS team responds to over 150,000 EMS calls annually using the most advanced technology. They are one of the largest hospital-based ambulatory services in the U.S. and the largest in the New York metropolitan area.
As an intern with CEMS you will work on projects such as developing goals & objectives for Field Training Officers, developing new hire orientation skill sheets, collaborating with the CEMS team to develop clinical competency criteria for new hires and more special projects as needed. Student working towards an undergraduate degree in Business, Healthcare/Health Science, Finance and Liberal Arts encouraged to apply.
Center for Learning and Innovation
The Center for Learning and Innovation offers continuous learning programs to Northwell Health’s employees, helping to enhance business practices, develop future leaders and improve patient care.
As an intern, you will participate in projects such as supporting the research and review of CLI policies and procedures and department operations and assisting CLI leadership in facilitating new programs and/procedures. We're seeking candidates currently enrolled a degree in Organizational Psychology, Business, Human Resources majors, or related field. Undergraduate junior & senior level students preferred.
TeleHealth is a surveillance system that provides around-the-clock, proactive patient monitoring. It uses bidirectional audio/video technology to enable real-time conversations—between patients and treatment teams, as well as between patients and their families—even if they’re in different locations.
As an intern in the TeleHealth department, you will gain insight into TeleHealth operations and contribute to TeleHealth initiatives such as the developing and coordinating initiatives, participating in internal project management and operations meetings. We're seeking candidates who have a graduate degree and experience in IT, Clinical Informatics, Project Management, or related field and working knowledge of TeleHealth. Information on IS systems knowledge is preferred.
Revenue Cycle - Customer Service
The outstanding people in our Revenue Cycle Department play a vital role in ensuring our financial strength and wellness. Revenue Cycle partners with Insurance companies and patients to secure pre-authorizations and payments, while also managing hospital billings and collections.
As an intern in the Customer Service and Experience division in Revenue Cycle, you will learn about hospital billing and the fundamentals of recovery service. You will train with Customer Service Representatives, shadow and assist service recovery Specialists in the resolution of escalated complaints, troubleshoot account related issues, communicate with patients to obtain the patient concerns and provide resolutions, and more.
We're seeking current junior or senior undergraduate students with one year of experience in customer service, including but not limited to: hospitality, retail, banking or call center.
As an intern in the Facility Services department, you will work under the direction and guidance of facility services project managers to learn everyday skills related to health care project management such as reviewing project status and update schedules accordingly, training within Oracle P6 schedule program, working with project managers to review, negotiate, and process payments and reviewing construction sites for infection control and safety audits.
We're seeking students with an education path in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, required; and past experience with construction or design engineering.
